Preparing for your holiday is almost as much fun as the actual stay and getting the correct advice about your travel and destination is as important as the holiday itself.

Of particular importance is what to do if you run into trouble in your destination. As they say, prevention is better than a cure, so we have pulled together a list of web sites and basic holiday and travel hints and tips to help you towards a hassle free holiday.

The Irish Government's travel advice pages provides a wealth of information including up to date news on the latest trouble spots, and some sound advice on what to do before you leave and some useful tips for your holiday itself.

Most Irish citizens who travel abroad do so without serious difficulty, often because they take the time to prepare themselves properly before they go. Before you travel, familiarise yourself with your destination. You can obtain information from your travel agent, from a guidebook or the Internet.
